About Me

Background My name is Henok Fissehaye. I am from Des Moines, Iowa originally from an East African country called Eritrea. I came to the United States 5 years ago. I used to live in a refugee camp in Ethiopia. Lived there for more than 5 years. I finished half of my elementary and middle school there. Then, when I came here I started my high school career at Roosevelt High School. I graduated from there in 2023. Then, I went to College and studied Web Development at Hawkeye Community College, which is 2 hours from my hometown.

Experience with technologys Although I had a phone when I was in the refugee camp and had a decent experience with phones, I have never had any experience with computers. I've always had the desire to learn about computers but I never had the opportunities to learn anything. Fun fact: I had never touched a computer keyboard before I came here. When I got here the first thing that I did was focused on improving my typing skills. I taught myself how to type. It was a big accomplishment for me. Looking back, I can see how much my technology skills have evolved and I'm heading in the right direction. I always dreamed of working somewhere in the computer field, just didn't know what it was. During my senior year of high school, I took an AP Computer Science class that provided me with a solid understanding of the field. Since then I just decided to stick with it.

Hobbies During my free time I like reading books and learn new things about computers. I also like excersing and playing soccer. Soccer is one of my favorite sport. I played soccer 3 years in high school and 2 years in college. My favorite teams are Chelsea and Real Madrid!
